Located in the province of Cáceres, Tejeda del Tiétar boasts a rich cultural heritage, most notably the church of San Miguel Arcángel, declared a monument of Historical and Artistic Interest.
Tejeda del Tiétar lies within the district of La Vera and dates back to Roman times. There are many remains to visit in the surrounding area, such as a granite gravestone known as La Muerte Pelona. There are also remains dating back to the Bronze Age.
This ancient heritage is complimented by religious monuments from different periods, such as the chapels of El Santísimo Cristo and San Sebastián, both from the 17th century, and the church of San Miguel Arcángel, which was built in the 16th century. This parish church, declared to be a monument of Historical and Artistic Interest, is well worth visiting.
The best time to truly appreciate the area's unique heritage is during the many fiestas, such as San Sebastián, the Ferias de Ganado (Livestock Fairs), Nuestra Señora de la Torre, El Santísimo Cristo, San Miguel and the La Virgen de la Torre procession.
