The convent of Santa Ana was created as a result of the desire to restore the Order of Saint Anne in Badajoz. Its foundation was aided by M. Leonor Lasso de la Vega y Figueroa, the daughter of the embassador of the Catholic Monarchs to Italy. Inside the monastery, in the church, the image of Nuestra Señora de las Virtudes y Buen Suceso is worshipped. The nuns of the convent profess the rule of Saint Clare of 1253, confirmed by Pope Innocent IV.
